“GROUNDBREAKING GAY ART FEATURING SHIRTLESS WHITE YOUTH”

I have lost all interest in looking at art that involves male bodies let alone white male bodies let alone white male bodies of a certain type
like, whatever, I still like white people well enough, but I don’t feel any need to look at your body and think of it as art in any way
look at my body, learn to not be repulsed, learn to not immediately turn to your friend and laugh, and then maybe I can have a passing respect for your existence.

Soo basically if you are thin and have a different body type you arnt as creative? And if my parents so happen to be white I cant make art with my body? If I looked like I was straight out of Israel I would instantly be the best fucking artist around.Kinda fucked up. But hey, I’m just a white person and I dont “suffer” like everyone else so I cant produce creative thoughts ESPECIALLY WITH MY BODY. Fuck this.

Um, I don’t know what you mean by “thin and a different body type” because thin and white is THE body type. How often do you see bodies that are not white or at least thing being represented not only in art but also in the media? (And what does that say about accessibility for people are not thin or white trying to make art?) What this is saying is that popular art REVOLVES around thin bodies and it’s fucking boring. No one said you can’t create art with your thin, white body. Again, what they’re saying is that this is the type of body that is often displayed—even seeked out for art—and praised even if it is not particularly interesting, creative or innovative. Why do you even assume I have to be interested in your body anyway?
If you weren’t such an asshole you would have read that last paragraph and at least tried to understand what it’s like living in this world in a body that isn’t thin or white and therefore subject to constant erasure and abuse. Instead you had to reblog this and throw a fucking privileged-as-fuck tantrum. Get over it.

Poor normative, thin, white, cis guys… they never get a break *rolls eyes all the way around her head*
Aside from your bullshit, privilege denying, white supremacist defensiveness let’s look at how damn boring and unoriginal this work is. In what way is it “groundbreaking,” to make art which continues to represent normative bodies? What are you challenging? Who are you confronting? How is this any different from the norm? I mean, I could easily see this being an ad on a billboard.
There is nothing original about this… thin, white, normative bodies completely dominate the world and have for YEARS. It’s like if you tried to call a painting of Jesus original; hundreds of years of art have been entirely dedicated to that douche; it’s been done. Nobody is saying you can’t make whatever art you want but if you make art you are opening yourself up to critique and if you try to claim your work is “groundbreaking,” you better fucking believe that someone is going to challenge that claim. Fucking deal with it!
